Seneca Falls: Sam "Bomber" Scibona passed away on Friday, June 4th, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 11th at 10AM at St. Patrick's Church, 97 West Bayard Street, Seneca Falls. Masks are required for entrance to the church. Interment will follow at St. Columbkille Cemetery in Seneca Falls. Donations in memory may be made to St. Patrick's Church or SMS Lodge, 95 Ovid Street, Seneca Falls, NY 13148.
Sam was born in Seneca Falls, the son of the late Joseph and Minnie (DeVito) Scibona. He was a lifelong resident of Seneca Falls. An Army veteran of WWII, Sam was a member of the Kirk Casey American Legion Post 366, VFW Post 1323, Elks Lodge #992, Rumseyville Sportsman's Club, and the SMS in Seneca Falls. After retiring from GTE Sylvania in 1984, Bomber started working at SMS, which became his second home and love. He enjoyed all sports but loved the NY Yankees and going to the casino. His greatest joy in life was his family and especially enjoyed dinners with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his four children, Sandy Scibona, Joe (Patti), Jerry (Kelly), and Gary (Tina) Scibona; eight grandchildren, Jolene (Kevin) Korzeniewski, Rocco Bilancini, Joelle (Fred) Bueller, Sal Scibona, Tara (Shawn) Saxton, Mia Scibona, Sammy and Kaycee Scibona; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Dick (Barb) Scibona; several nieces and nephews, as well as his SMS family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years, Katherine "Kay" (DiRaddo) and her parents, Jerry (Carrie Eppilito) DiRaddo; as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law.
