Obituary

Seneca Falls: William R. Beatty, Jr., known affectionately by his nickname "Gator Bill" passed away at his home on Sunday, August 6th, 2023 surrounded by the love of his family. He had celebrated his 79th birthday just a few weeks prior. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 11th from 5 - 7 PM with a funeral service to conclude the evening at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Bill was born in Norristown, PA, the son of the late William and Jayne (McKeever) Beatty, Sr. He graduated from Bishop Kenrick High School, Class of 1962. He married his wife, the former Catherine Kalinowski, on October 24th, 1987. The two have shared many adventures over their 44 years together and had moved to the Finger Lakes last Fall from Liverpool, where they had called home since 1990. Over the course of his working years, Bill's career path expanded to many different professions. For over 21 years he was a truck driver for the Teamsters Local 384 before taking on roles of leadership within their organization. He and Catherine owned and operated many establishments across PA and NY, including, the historic Our Place (Swamp Hotel) in PA which is one of the oldest operating bar/restaurant/hotel in the country; Gator's Mug in Cicero for 6 years; Parkview Tavern in Syracuse for 4 years; Gator Bill's Seneca Grill in Syracuse for 5 years, and he was also a bus monitor for Liverpool Central School District for 16 years. Saying that Bill was a hard worker was an understatement. He enjoyed working because it allowed him to provide for his family and he was able to interact with the public. Those that met Bill knew his ability to impress others and make friends with just about anyone he came in contact with. In his later years, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a lifelong fan of the NY Yankees and SU Basketball. He also loved to cook and was excellent at it.

Bill is survived by his wife, Catherine; children, Beth Rossi, Jennifer (Anthony) Lubrano, Jeremy (Kimberly) Pupillo, Jennifer Pupillo, Leigh Ann (Mark) Ross, Alicia (Richard) Parish; 13 grandchildren, Joseph, Madison, Corey, Kyle, Ellyahnna, Levi, Sarena, Gil-Bob, Sofia, Gabriella, Trace, Skyler, Marley; 4 great-grandchildren, Logan, Blake, Grayson, Huddy; siblings, Debbie DeDominic, Dennis (Ute) Beatty, Vanessa (Tony) Puco, Pamela Landy, Kimberly (John) Tomaszewski. Bill was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Beatty.
