Obituary

William A. Reigel, 74, of Seneca Falls, passed away unexpectedly at Geneva General Hospital on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 30, from 3-5PM with a funeral service immediately following at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls. The family requests donations be made to a charity of one's choice in his memory.

Bill was born in Seneca Falls, the son of the late Clare and Ina (Barrows) Reigel. He attended local schools and graduated from Mynderse Academy, Class of 1967. On October 18, 1968, Bill married his high school sweetheart, the former Barbara J. Laude, at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca Falls. Initially working at Goulds Pumps, over the years Bill found his niche working for aerospace companies all over New York State. In 1983, he and Barbara moved to Remsen, NY where Bill began a 20-year career with Bendix in Utica. Later, the pair moved to Baldwinsville, NY where he worked in Syracuse at Tactair Fluid Controls, then Babbitt Bearings, when he finally retired from the aerospace industry. Due to the demands of his career, he became well versed in international travel, travelling to many corners of the world. In 2010, Bill and Barb moved back home to Seneca Falls. Bill was not one to sit still, and in the 13 years since returning to Seneca Falls, he worked for the Village of Seneca Falls as the Parking Enforcement Officer, the NYS Chiropractic College as a security guard, and the Seneca Falls Central School District as a member of the Board of Education.

To know Bill was to know a good time. He was always the life of the party, no matter where he went. He was also known for being quite the prankster. Bill loved to be outside in nature, hunting and fishing. He was a huge fan of the NYS Fair, not only the attractions, but also the sights and sounds. He was a lifelong fan of SU Football and has been a season ticket holder for 20 years. Bill was no stranger to the kitchen where he loved to put his culinary skills to the test. He was a life member of the BPOE Lodge 992 in Seneca Falls, as well as the Sons of the American Legion. Living in the Utica area, Bill ran in the Boilermaker 15K road race. Additionally, he was a member of the 1966-67 wrestling team that was inducted into the Mynderse Academy Athletic Hall of Fame.

Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara; brother-in-law, Bruce Laude; sisters-in-law, Trish (Kirk) Ward and Pam Reigel; several nieces and nephews and extended family, as well as his special K9 companion, Gingersnap. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Kenneth Reigel.
